When coming to college, there are a lot of different aspects to think about. One of the hardest is picking a major. For me personally, I had to do a lot of thinking before I chose what was right for me. Throughout high school the business field had my attention. I loved accounting, using numbers and making sure everything equalled out was fun to me. Yet I knew wanted to do something with my career that was more hands on. Im also very interested in fashion, things that are unique and one of a kind. Putting all these pieces together helped me choose my major as marketing.
After reviewing this with my parents, there were still questions that ran through my mind. For example what amount of money would I be making? I also wanted to know the need for people within this field and if I would needed to require a masters degree. After learning more about these aspects I found out that the marketing position is the first to be released when the company needs to lay employees off. I also learned that the average salary was lower than what I would like to achieve in life.
I found out the answers to these questions from hours of research and trying to contact the right people. I have spoken to a career counselor to help me figure out what my next move will be after attaining this information. Now I have decided that I am going to major in business administration. Within this field there are a lot of options where I can do hands on projects and still be able to incorporate numbers and math. There are a lot more opportunities through this major and the salary is what I was looking for.
